It's About Time

A week from today we will be there.
In Haiti.
It's been such a long time coming.
Kevin and I have been praying for so long that our family could go on a mission trip.
So long that it is hard to believe we are less than a week away.

God has been so gracious to provide this opportunity.  In January I definitely felt like there was no way that it could happen.  Kevin had more faith than me... what else is new?  He was the one who said let's just believe that God can make a way for us. After all, how many times have we seen Him do exactly this for so many others.  Yes... it's funny how I can believe God for others so much more than I can trust Him for myself.  Does that even make sense?

Needless to say... Our God is MORE than able!  He came through in so many ways that I would have never even expected.  Just like Kevin said He would :).  We are blown away by how many of you have come around us to make this whole trip possible... seriously blown away!

So... what will we be doing?

Hmmm... let me back up.  First of all, this whole thing came about because our son-in-law and his dad went to New Vision two years ago.  When they came back and told us all what was going on there, we knew that it was something we wanted to be a part of.

We are going with Stan and Diane (Alyssa's father-in-law and his wife) and Billy and Amy.  So with our 3 kids, there will be 9 of us in all making this trip. 6 of us have never been out of the country. How cool is that?

There are going to be plenty of opportunities for us to love on babies :), spend time with children at a school, minister to men and women at New Vision's fishing village, deliver food to the elderly and poor, go fishing out on the ocean, and we just found out that we might be able to take part in a new prison ministry that they've started.

I know that sounds like a whole lot, and we will probably have to pick and choose what we will be doing, but the beauty of this trip is that whatever we feel that God is asking us to take part in... or wherever the needs arise next week, is where we will be.

We have heard from so many people that have gone before us that we will never be the same.
I am ready for that!
Ready to get a much larger view of who God is and how He calls us to love others.

We will have access to a computer in the evenings so we hope to be able to keep you all updated.

Would you do us a favor?
Would you pray for us?

We will be leaving on Tues. for Miami.
The dates are March 20-28.

I will post some specific ways that you can pray for us before we leave.

You have no idea how much it means to us to know that our friends and family are lifting us up in prayer!

Oh... for right now, would you pray that Billy can go for the entire time?  His work schedule is making it hard for him to be there.

Pray also for all of the fears and anxieties that come along with preparing for our first mission trip.... that God would give us peace about what He is going to do in and through us.

Thanks friends... we are so blessed by you all!
